Have you ever seen the movie The English Patient?
There is a beautiful scene where the main character becomes fascinated with the delicate hollow at the base of a woman’s throat. He loves that little area so much that he even asks what it is called. It is the suprasternal notch, right between the collarbones.
A beautiful facial line doesn’t start only with the face but it starts with the neck and collarbone area.
The scalene muscles, located along the sides of the neck, can become tight from stress, posture, and daily activities. Gentle massage around the neck and collarbone area can help release this tension and support healthy circulation and lymphatic drainage.
Because lymphatic fluid from the face and neck ultimately drains toward the lower neck and collarbone region, I like to prepare this area before beginning facial lymphatic massage.
When the neck and collarbone area feel relaxed and less congested, the face may temporarily look less puffy and the jawline more defined.
That’s why my facial treatments don’t begin with the face—they begin with the shoulders, neck, and collarbone area.
